KLOCs redux

So, the one person aside from my wife who regularly reads this blog asked, either in e-mail, or in a "comment" to my KLOC blog entry why I was so down on KLOCs, and then referenced "defects per KLOC" as a valid metric.

I agree with him.

KLOCs are a great way to normalize other things you might measure. That is, I find KLOCs perfectly acceptable in the denominator. But I find KLOCs utterly abhorent in the numerator.

Put differently, Bugs per KLOC good. KLOC per day bad.
